This is a stand alone power supply used to drive secondary or add-on                                                                                                                                    
equipment. A fully loaded alarm panel with smokes, heat, gas,                                                                                                                                           
expansion boards, intercom and so on will require more power than                                                                                                                                       
can be sourced by the panel. This especially applies to extra sirens.                                                                                                                                   
You will need a 24VAC power supply to drive this unit, which is a                                                                                                                                       
voltage regulator/rectifier. I've been using one of these for years.                                                                                                                                    
Although the heat sink is quite large, I would suggest you connect                                                                                                                                      
the unit to a larger metal plate to keep it running cool.
